Harrowing Photos of the Mentally Ill in Sub-Saharan Africa

This was just such a powerful and heartbreaking piece that I felt it had to be shared with my readers. With two parents who have both worked as mental health nurses for much of their lives, I have been aware of this type of illness from an early age, and with a father who comes from Mauritius I have also witnessed for myself the poverty and the vulnerable in Africa. The combination of the two is beyond devastating and to think that the lack of education could be causing these individuals to be treated cruelly or misunderstood is awful.
